I've been a van dweller at heart my whole life. Seriously, I remember the "van clan" days of the 70's, when I was in my teens. I wanted to leave my job, travel the U.S. and "live" in my own van. I have owned and lived in vans, as well as, cars, trucks, tents and backpacks throughout the years. I must confess to being a vagabond at many times in my life. I've also been a very hard working person with a strong work ethic and maintained homes, paid bills and waited and waited for that short vacation. How could I put the two together? How could I live in a van, travel to the places I wanted and support myself? This is a question that has been on my mind for years. In Jason's book I found the answer to just that! There are lots of ways a person can dwell in a vehicle and get by doing odd jobs and such. There are also those with money and cruise around in big motor homes. I've had a vision for a long time about how a person could be frugal, efficient, low key, have more freedom for doing so and live in comfort and safety. The idea expressed in this book is a simple one and to some may not seem very relieving. For others it may be enlightening. The thing that really got me is how the ideas in this book paralleled my own ideas and brought my own vision to a solid place. Now I am able to see how I can make this a reality for myself. I have also searched the web for ideas on how to make money at home and/or while traveling. Naturally, as this would benefit the life style of my choice. So many scams! I was ready to give up! I knew, however, in my heart that people do make money on the internet and if others can, I can. Then one day while Googling vans for sale and browsing sites like Craig's List, Auto Trader and Kelly Blue Book, I saw an add over on the right hand side of the page that read "Vanabode happily camp, travel and live forever on $20 a day". I checked it out, bought the book, and decided to write this review. I thought it interesting that I was not looking for ways to make money at the time. It seems to me that this book showed up when I needed it to. Aside from the nuts and bolts approach to living in a van there is a wealth of information provided through a series of web links to guide you to destinations, events, free camping and much more including real ways to make money on the internet and other ways as well. If you want to free yourself up, even just a little, this a great book!
