Hey everyone! I am a guy with medium long thick straight hair. Sorta like an emo/scene style and this product is great. My goal was to flat iron my hair so I could give it a more beachy look with different flips and curls. It looks way better. This mini flat iron is the perfect size and it doesn't feel cheap. It heats up pretty fast but its not the fastest. If you want a 30 second heat up, this mini is not for you. It takes like 1 minute to heat up. My brother has pretty curly hair and he has a mini flat iron like me, but not the same one. He has the Jose Eber petite flat iron which is even smaller than mine and heats up in 30 seconds. I highly recommend that one too. The croc however, I think, is better for thicker hair because it has a slightly bigger plate. You can grab a little more hair and if you run through your hair slowly it flattens it out and makes it really straight. Also, I like that this flat iron has spring plates which means it doesnt completely crush your hair. It adjusts to your hair. This is supposed to be healthier for your hair. One way to check if it has spring plates (I don't know what the plates are really called) is if you press down on the plates and it moves up into the iron. Remember to buy a thermal heat protector if you blow dry and flat iron your hair daily. Thats what i do with this iron and it makes my hair shinier than when i use the flat iron alone. It also protects your hair from heat damage and makes it look and feel healthier. If you have longer hair you shouldn't go for the mini flat irons.I bought it for straightening my bang. Hoping to love this iron, cute and good price but didn't do its job.I bought this mainly for my upcoming trip to europe but also because the ceramic in my old one actually burnt out and was damaging my hair every time I used it. I plan to get the actual 1.5" Croc iron because my hairdresser uses it on my hair and it works really well. The mini actually works pretty well also and for me it gets more than hot enough in only a couple minutes. I found that I only needed to run the iron through my hair once for it to get straight. The finish isn't exactly as smooth as the regular 1.5" Croc iron but it's pretty close. I have long coarse hair and I was concerned about the size but I was able to get my whole head done in about 30 mins. In general, the iron feels sturdy and durable and the swivel cord means it wont snap with continued use. I'm very pleased with it so far.I used this in England, Italy and Ireland with no issues. The iron is quite small, but it most certainly served its purpose. I just allowed a few extra minutes to get my hair done each morning. It heats up quickly, and the protective mat was a really nice bonus--since using the iron was normally the last thing I did before packing up and moving on. The only drawbacks were, as others have stated--size is small, so you have to spend a bit more time working on your styling. (But this is also a big plus for packing--it takes up only a tiny amount of space in your suitcase!) The other is that there are no heat controls, but it gets really hot, so that's not such a big deal. It worked great wherever we went! (Just make sure you have the correct plug adapters along with you!!)I purchased this for vacation, but still use it daily. I wanted something little I could throw in my carry-on, and this definitely fit the bill. The price is pretty unbeatable here on Amazon. It heats up quickly and works very well considering it's size. I have really thick, medium-length hair, and am able to straighten it all in about 10 minutes. The one thing I'm not a fan of is the on/off slide switch on the inside of the iron. I'm always afraid I'll burn fingers sticking them in there. I usually just unplug and wait a minute or two before flipping the switch. It'd also be nice if it got a tad bit hotter. I still love it and it's replaced my old Conair straightener.I would not recommend this particular flat iron. That being said, I am NOT affiliated with any sort of professional hair service providers. I also own a 1" HSI flat iron, and, while it is noticeably larger, making it less suitable for travel, my opinion is that it is worth the hassle.Pros:Flat iron heats quicklyConvenient sizeSimple interfaceCushioned platesCons:"Cheap" appearancePlastic shellNo temperature settingLow maximum temperature (ESTIMATED at approximately 300-320 degrees Fahrenheit, although I did not perform any actual test on this. Flat irons typically work best (for me) between 370 and 380 degrees Fahrenheit.)All in all, I did not find this product to be useful in performing the only task I purchased it to do. Additionally, I am a male with hair relatively shorter than most women, therefore I assume straightening hair with this iron would take significantly longer with longer hair (Past neck/shoulder). The only possible use I can imagine for this flat iron are styling and detailing, although even this could be difficult with a relatively cool iron.If the narrower iron surface is NOT a vital detail, I would highly recommend the HSI flat iron line for use.Note: If the narrow iron IS the key aspect you seek, I recommend BabyBliss mini flat irons. I do not own one, but have used one in a salon environment and was satisfied.Used it in Madrid and worked just fine with an adapter - no need for a converter. It's very small, but then again it is for traveling. The travel case is amazing and looks great as well. I loved how easy it was to put away and it didn't take up much room in my luggage. Some of the other reviewers also mentioned that it does not get very hot, this is true, but I still managed to curl my hair just fine (I have thick, long hair). I would definitely recommend this product if you are traveling to Europe.I have a short hair cut and my stylist uses this iron on my hair. I asked her about it and she said... I can get you one for $40... ummm no... I paid half the price here for it!! It's the perfect size for my hair and easy to hold on to. But the "red" light that indicates whether it's on or not has stopped working... I hope this is not a sign the entire iron will fizz out soon!!! Of course I tossed the shipping container so I can't return it!! I would recommend this if you have short hair. Estar encantada.
