Wife and I bought two of these bowls. We take one with us for walks, etc.. and only use the other for food when traveling. As a water bowl, it works perfectly, holds water just fine with no leaks and folds up easily with a snap closure for easy storage. It's easy to rinse out/clean off and let air dry. We bought it with the intention of a stationary water bowl, so we don't have feedback on how it holds up while driving or in motion. We wait until we're stopped to let our dog eat/drink anyway. Since it holds water perfectly as needed, we don't see any problems holding dry food. There is a drawstring "top" to the bowl to help prevent spillage. You could probably get away with buying only one, but we didn't want to have to transfer food out and need a place to put it while we used it for water then put food back in when the drinking was done.
