Description

Product description Great travel game. In the game of Scrabble, players form words in a crossword fashion on the board using letter tiles of different values. Each player competes for the highest score by taking advantage of the letter tiles, as well as the premium squares on the board. In a 2-player game, a good player scores in the 300-400 point range. Amazon.com This compact version of Scrabble, the old-fashioned family favorite, will make a long train commute or cross-country plane journey pass more quickly. The 10-by-11-inch plastic board with its raised squares holds the tiles securely while you play, then folds up to become a neat, sturdy, 6-by-11-inch carrying case for the clear plastic letter racks and the cloth bag of tiles (you can use the bag for drawing letters). The letter racks can fit into the sides of the board if necessary, though they're not obviously meant to do so, making this less of a car or bus game than it might have been; still, it's perfect for train, plane, or boat. Be careful not to drop the tiles, as they're quite a bit smaller than standard Scrabble tiles--but even if you do, good old Milton Bradley will replace the ones you lose. E-N-J-O-Y (15 points)! --Barrie Trinkle Review For 2 to 4 players Includes game board, plastic carrying case, 100 wood letter titles, 4 plastic tile racks, and cloth pouch Supply is limited -- See more

This is the best portable SCRABBLE game currently available in the US. Of course it's the only one too. I had heard it was not very well made before I bought it so I'm not too surprised at how poorly designed it is. I don't know anything about board game manufacturing, plastic injection molding, etc. but I would not have done some of the things they did.The game opens in the middle like a book, revealing the board. Beneath one half of the board is a storage area for the racks, tiles, and the tile bag. It would make sense to put the tiles in the tile bag between games. That way if the game gets opened upside down or pops open when dropped (which I guarantee would happen) the little tiles don't spill everywhere. But the thing has a warning that the tiles must not be storee in the bag between games. You can still do it anyway but you have to be sure to distribute them evenly. As others have mentioned, the printed cardboard game board face that fits under the clear plastic is not secured very well and mine kept falling out. I used some clear glue to stick it in place. The board uses a raised plastic grid so the tiles can't slide around too easily. But it's still pretty easy to dislodge them if you have it resting on your airline tray table and cross your legs. Maybe magnets or a peg and pegboard arrangement would have helped. The plastic used for the case and board is of the wrong type for this application. I expect mine to be cracked within a year or so if I take on trips very often. I would be inclined to keep it in my carry-on luggage like you would a laptop computer. The tiles are real wood. How 'bout that. They cheaped out everywhere else but the tiles are nice. Overall it's a nice looking set; just a little flimsy for a travel edition. Still I would recommend it. What else are you going to do if you want to play SCRABBLE on the road?
