I do travel quite a lot but I’ve never been to Italy even though it’s been on my list for quite a while. After reading this travel book on Florence, I’m putting this city at the top of where I want to visit in Italy. It has a lot going for it. The birthplace of the Renaissance, home of Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, the Medicis, Machiavelli. Michelangelo's David, probably the most famous work of sculpture is there and according to the author, and a lot of others, the city is a beauty beyond compare.I liked the way this book is structured, starting off with a brief history, transport, the areas of the city such as the Duomo, museums, art galleries, best coffee shops, bars, restaurants and special things to do. What I liked best about the book is the section at the end called A 3-Day Itinerary, which is a logical plan to see the vast majority of places and things covered in the book which is a great idea if you’re not sure where to start. Like, why not head off the the Uffizi Gallery right after breakfast and check out that Raphael painting you’ve always wanted to see?
